The basic concepts and manipulation of numbers is used in nearly all walks of life from baking cakes to buying consumables to balancing your personal budget. Patterns abound in art and music and recognising them adds to our enjoyment and participation. Organising a night out for your friends or running any sort of club or business requires ability in basic maths.
