Lose Your Fear of Maths in Just 4 Simple “Home Study” Steps
Do you have a fear of sums and all things mathematical?
Not to worry, you are not alone! It has been estimated by the Basic Skills Agency that around one in five adults have problems understanding basic maths. In fact “Maths Anxiety” has now been labelled as an anxiety in its own right by psychologists. It can affect people who are actually competent at maths, making them perform less well than they could do. Apparently our anxious thoughts clash with the memory resources we need to do maths.
What is Maths anyway?
It's what we use to grasp the underlying structure of the world which is expressed in patterns, shapes, and quantities.
Do we really need it?
The answer to that question is a resounding YES! The basic concepts and manipulation of numbers is used in nearly all walks of life from baking cakes to buying consumables to balancing your personal budget. Patterns abound in art and music and recognising them adds to our enjoyment and participation. Organising a night out for your friends or running any sort of club or business requires ability in basic maths.
Can you overcome your fear or lack of skills?
Once again the answer is YES! But you must believe you can (we all can). Take your time with this course, rely on your tutor when stuck and you will most definitely become proficient at basic maths. Being able to help your own children or assist in the classroom.
