This is the second course I have completed and the efficient way the college has dealt with my needs is commendable. Initially I didn’t know which course to take and spoke to someone via the telephone to ascertain the best route for me and the advice and guidance were spot on as the course I have almost complete is exactly what I wanted to do. I really enjoy the way you can work at your own pace and fit the course around work and home. My biggest problem was that I enjoyed the content of the course so much I can’t wait to get the next assignment. I feel everything is there for a student if they want to access it and ALWAYS help on hand. Thank you for my wonderful counselling children and adolescent course.
Counselling Children and Adolescents – A Well Structured Level 4 Course to Equip the Average Person with Enough Knowledge, Understanding and Skill to Become a Competent Counsellor
You become involved in counselling children and adolescents when you offer and agree to give to give them:
- Time
- Attention
- Respect
As they temporarily take up the role of the client.
Your brief as the counsellor is to give the young person an opportunity to:
- explore
- discover
- clarify
…ways of living more resourcefully and towards greater well-being, making their own decisions rather than letting you or others make their decisions for them. Children who might need your help as a counsellor have often had to live through:
- Family issues such as parental separation, divorce or reconstruction
- Loss of a parent or sibling thorough death
- Bullying in the home or at school
- Social or academic anxiety
- Peer pressure or other relationship issues
This comprehensive counselling course will thoroughly prepare you to be a skilful child and adolescent counsellor whether it is in a full time or part time role. It is ideal for teachers, teaching assistants and other child care professionals who want to specialise in counselling.
The advantage of distance learning is, of course that you can fit your study around your existing job. The tutor support is excellent, there when needed and silent when not. Just read what student 12621 had to say about her tutor support.
Great Tutors, great feedback (even if you have messed up!). Very fast in the marking and delivery of the course material by post (my first course was by post but now I do them all by the internet).
So read the overview and carefully examine the syllabus, be filled with enthusiasm as you imagine helping children and young adolescents through their difficulties to become healthy, happy and motivated adults.
